Take Charge of Your Thoughts

Thoughts, feelings, actions. Three very important words that could change your life. Our thoughts dictate our feelings, which in turn dictate our actions. So if we think negative thoughts—thoughts that don’tserve us well—then we will feel terrible. Feeling bad will manifest itself in our behavior and how we carry ourselves. When that happens, our vibration level runs extremely low and we find ourselves attracting from the universe more of what we don’t want. Conversely, when we think positively by choosing thoughts that serve us well, we will feel great and act accordingly. This will attract from the universe all the wonderful gifts that we deserve. The key to our happiness, then, is to focus on our thoughts and develop tools that will help us change our “stinkin’ thinkin'.”

I want you to start thinking about all the thoughts that don’t serve you well—we’ve all got em’. We daily fill our minds with thoughts like, “I’m not smart enough, pretty enough, handsome enough, thin enough, rich enough, successful enough, etc." Then there’s the all-too-often thought of, “My wife/life/job/boyfriend sucks! I wish it were different!” As if these internally directed thoughts weren't hurtful enough, we also have thoughts about others that don’t serve us well, such as, “He’s a jerk; she’s a horrible person; I want to kill him; he’s out for me.” None of these harmful thoughts serve us well; all they do is bring us down.

I recommend you taking a moment now to pause and write down those thoughts that don’t serve you well. Don’t rush it; take your time and allow your thoughts to flow out of you onto paper. The thoughts you jot down can be about the past, present or future. Look at those thoughts and make sure you’ve identified them all. You may need to take some breaks from this assignment to ensure that you’ve been thorough enough. One thought will often lead to a string of others, so dig deep and hone into every thought that you’ve chosen to embrace that doesn’t serve you well. Odds are, these thoughts will stir up emotions of insecurity, hurt and guilt. But the good news is that after you learn about and implement my formula, you should no longer feel the same way about those thoughts as you do at this moment.
